Sherman High's team had just walloped its rival West Mesquite.

Instead of celebrating with his team, senior Gage Smith asked opposing player,

Ty Jordan, if they could take a knee together right there on the gridiron.

Gage played flag football with Jordan over the summer, knew his mom was sick,

and wanted to reassure his on-field challenger of his off-field respect and empathy.

A photo of the impromptu moment is making the rounds on social media, with both boys

getting a legion of new fans. Their moms are also enjoying the response.

Gage's mom says she's proud of her son.

And Ty's mom says she was left speechless by the gesture and is buoyed by the good wishes she's now getting from all over the country.

Today we've got two more award-winning science ideas to share.

The top prize for the annual 3M Young Scientist Challenge went to 14-year-old Californian Carra Fan, who invented a first aid

liquid bandage that reduces the risk of superbug infections.

Second place went to 13-year-old New Yorker Caroline Crouchley, who may have just

one-up to the hyperloop design by SpaceX founder Elon Musk.

Caroline's idea is to build transportation tubes next to existing train tracks.

Magnetic shuttles would travel through these tubes connected via magnetic arm to the regular

trains traveling on the regular tracks. Not only is her system less expensive,

but it's also more eco-friendly because the magnetic trains wouldn't need diesel or
