Today is Friday, November 5th, and we begin with a quick thinking iPhone Savvy 9-year-old

saving her entire family from a dangerous carbon monoxide leak.

J. Lean Brando was in her bed in Brocktown, Massachusetts, when she heard her dad yelling

for help.

Her mom had already passed out, and her father lost consciousness moments later.

Still, J. Lean didn't panic.

She grabbed her dad's phone and used his face to unlock it and dial 911.

Then got her little sister out of the house and into the care of a neighbor.

All have sense recovered.

Investigators believed the leak came from a generator borrowed by the family after their

home lost power in the recent Noreaster.

The device was outside and had been switched off, but was apparently too close to the home,

allowing the colorless, odorless gas to drift inside.

The National Weather Service says generators should be kept 20 feet away from doors, windows

and vents.

It also recommends carbon monoxide detectors.

This Sunday, at 2 a.m., most of us in the U.S. will fall back an hour, returning us

to standard time, and giving us the 60 minutes we lost when we sprang ahead last spring.

The change means our days will get darker earlier, with each a little shorter than

the last until we reach the winter solstice on December 21st, which is when the North Pole
