Good morning and welcome the Kid News. I'm Tori. Today is Tuesday, November 3rd,

2020 and we begin with Election Day in the US after many months, years even of campaigning, speeches, and advertising, this is the final day

for registered Americans to cast their ballot for president.

Of course, record-breaking early voting means there could be a lot less people

actually going to the polls today, but plenty will still physically show up.

As you've heard many times, this has been an election season like no other in this country and

likewise election night tonight will also be unique usually but not always the final

results are known before midnight.

But the leaders of the major TV networks,

which tens of millions will be watching tonight,

told the New York Times they are committed

to getting the results right, combating any misinformation, and are asking for a lot of

patience.

Susan Zorinsky, the president of CBS News, says, we're preparing the audience that this

might not be over in one night.

One of the big factors in the election is the coronavirus,

and it's also having a big impact on the world's oceans,

tons of pandemic- generated waste, like disposable masks,

gloves, and wipes are floating into waterways and oceans. Over 60,000 such items were collected during the one day of the International Coastal

Cleanup event this fall.

And for the first time in the 35-year history of this event, a new data category of trash was added for personal protective equipment or

PPE. The other categories include food wrappers, plastic straws, and bottles.
