Summary

With great trucks comes great responsibility. Mark, Erik and Jimmy are on the road in Jimmy's truck preparing for the next podventure and took a break to discuss important recovery gear and tools to keep on hand in the truck to be ready for any situation. Jimmy goes over his personal top 3 in each category with some real life situations that have occurred in the last few years to back each one up. What are the tools and gear you keep in your vehicle to be ready for anything? Bonus points to those carrying this kind of gear in cars that aren't trucks/SUV's, too - even a compact vehicle can come in handy in emergency situations!

What's up everybody? It's Jimmy, Mark, and Eric here and we have 10 minutes to talk to you about doing a truck dump essentially telling you what's going on inside of actually my truck. This is Jimmy here right now. We are on the road doing some scouting for an upcoming pod venture or a pod venture that may have already happened depending on when you listen to this. But Mark pointed out the fact that there's a lot going on in my truck right now and I can see why he would be saying that

0:26.8

because I do like to always come prepared for just about anything everything.

0:30.3

Think I get that from my dad riding around in trucks and cars for many years with my dad.

That man always has a full truck bed. I mean the entire bed is full of tools and things. I've never seen him in a

0:45.0

situation he couldn't get himself out of. So anyways I guess I try to emulate that in

0:49.2

some ways. But I couldn't probably go through everything. I've got a floor jack saying X me a two ton floor jack I have an impact driver I've got a

0:56.6

shovel in my lap right now all kinds of emergency lights I have big shavers, I've got switch blades, all kinds of crazy rain.

1:06.4

Instead of trekking poles, shotgun, trad bow, bow target, oil pan, whatever.

1:13.0

I'm going to go through the top three recovery items and top three tools in the truck.

1:19.2

First off, the recovery items.

1:20.9

Mark and Eric, this stuff is important.

1:22.4

I don't know if you guys carry this in your trucks recovery tools in this case my top three are the

1:29.7

Bubba rope ropes which are these like,

1:32.9

they're a special kind of a recovery rope

1:35.1

that you would use like between you and another truck

1:37.2

or something like that.

1:38.0

Got one of those in here.

1:39.7

Another recovery item that is very important

1:42.2

is if you have a two inch receiver on the back

1:44.3

of your truck I highly suggest carrying around a two inch receiver thing that gives

1:48.3

you a recovery point for shackles like big D ring shackles so I always have one of those in my truck that can be adapted into that two inch receiver so that way if you happen to be a lot of times cars will have their recovery things right on the front.

2:03.6

So recovery hook will be inside your bumper or underneath the bumper right next to the subframe or something like that.
