What is up, everybody? We have 10 minutes to talk about how to sharpen a fixed blade knife.

0:08.6

Now, I've got esteemed colleague Ryan Muckiner to my right, good friend Brad Brooks from

0:13.0

our golly across from us right now, the fixed blade knife. One of the handiest tools you

0:17.5

can have in your arsenal, particularly if you're big game hunting, things like that, but

0:21.5

they can get dull. Now, a couple of years ago, I was talking to Brad and we're talking

0:26.1

about knives. At least I thought we were talking about knives. He goes, well, do you have

0:28.3

a leather strap? And I said, well, I don't really know what you're getting at, but it sounds

0:32.1

really exotic and I don't know if I'm interested. But it was something completely benign and

0:37.3

very useful. So Brad, maybe real quick, introduce yourself and tell us how we take our knife

0:43.0

from dull to a razor's edge in the field. And particularly for a guy like myself that

0:48.2

maybe a little bit forgetful, maybe your care of your knives isn't that good. And then

0:52.7

you get something down and you go to cut it up or, you know, feel dressed and you're like,

0:56.7

damn, this thing is dull. What do I do now? I'm in the field. It's a real pickle. It's

1:03.5

not a situation you want to find yourself in. So Brad, I own a company called Argolly.

1:09.9

And I'd say, you know, first of all, best solution is like sharpening your knife before

1:14.0

you go into the field. But if you're just like, you know, get kids or you just forget

1:18.4

for like me, sometimes you just throw in your gear and you're like, oh, it's probably

1:21.4

fine. So I think the first thing you want to do is just like assess like how dual your

1:26.2

knife is. So, you know, you can do a lot with the naked eye and tell what's going on. So

1:31.0

I would just kind of flip your your your knife upside down and kind of try and look down

1:37.1

the sharpening edge of your knife. And you know, if you can see kind of light refracting off

1:43.0

in different weird angles down the edge, you almost might be able to tell if like your sharpening
