0:08.3	regarding narcissistic personality and narcissistic behaviors. I'm your host, Dr. Donnelly's
0:14.4	Snipes. Today we're going to explore the unique physiological and neurological traits of
0:20.8	individuals with NPD. Yeah, they're actually to explore the unique physiological and neurological traits of individuals
0:21.2	with NPD.
0:22.4	Yeah, they're actually wired differently.
0:24.6	We'll explore how inflammation and gut dysbiosis may contribute to symptoms, review factors
0:30.4	that may have contributed to the development of their symptoms, identify strategies to build
0:36.2	rapport and engage, and then identify treatment strategies.
0:42.5	First thing I want to start off with, and I've said this a bunch of times before, behavior is
0:47.9	caused by something. We are triggered, motivated, stimulated to act, to behave based on something.
0:58.5	Behavior that's reinforced will increase. So if when I throw a temper tantrum, I get my way,
1:06.3	then you can darn well bet I'm going to throw that temper tantrum again to get my way.
1:10.4	If the behavior is punished, it will decrease. So in some people with narcissistic traits,
1:18.3	we may see behaviors that have evolved because they've been rewarded. They've been reinforced.
1:27.6	And remember, with a personality disorder, the behavior has to have been present since
1:33.2	late adolescence, early adulthood.
1:36.2	The behavior has to be inflexible, and it has to be pervasive in most areas of the
1:43.8	person's life, not just at work, not just with
1:47.1	intimate relationships.
1:48.6	It has to infiltrate or permeate every aspect of the person's life.
1:53.2	Otherwise, it's just narcissistic traits.
