C-L-E-A-N-S-H-E-E-T. clean sheet. So what does clean sheet mean?

Well, in sports like soccer or hockey, it refers to when a team doesn't allow their opponent to score any goals.

They end the game with a clean sheet, meaning their goalpost, their screen, their

net is still clean and hasn't been touched by the ball. It's kind of like a perfect game,

right? But in everyday English, we use clean sheet to talk about starting fresh.

Without any mistakes or failures, forget about your past.

For example, when you start a new job or a new project, you have a clean sheet.

You can think of a clean sheet of paper, a fresh start, a blank slate. And when we say blank slate,

remember a long time ago in schools, we used to have chalk boards where the teacher would

write on the black slate. Yeah, a blank slate, clean. A fresh start. A blank slate. A clean sheet. The opportunity

to start fresh and maybe do things differently this time so that you're successful.
