Summary

Ohh, social media… We hate to love it and we love to hate it, BUT I believe that God can redeem it for His glory when we partner with Him to set boundaries and create a healthy relationship with it. So today, I’m sharing with you how you can walk in freedom from the comparison cycle that is so easy to fall into on social media, stop doom scrolling, and have practical tools in your back pocket for anytime comparison tries to sneak into your mind.   JOY FILLED MOTHERS CLUB Joy For The Journey: a free 3 day devotional for moms in the trenches Connect with Jenna on Instagram: @jennamariegriffith Check out Armoire and use my code JOYFILLED for up to 50% off: www.armoire.style/JOYFILLED

Welcome to Joyfilled, a podcast that invites women to experience the fullness of joy in everyday life as we walk with Christ together.

I'm your host, Jenna, and this week I wanted to take some time to talk about social media and comparison because I know it's something that we all have faced at one point

0:22.9

or another, but the good news is we have freedom in Christ and that includes freedom from even

0:31.2

the things that feel small like comparison on social media. We have freedom. So let's talk about it today.

0:39.6

If you are a longtime listener of Joyfield, you know that my relationship of social media has been tumultuous, to say the least.

0:52.0

I took an extended break from social media. I wasn't sure that I would come back

1:01.2

to social media. I actually announced that I was taking the year off of social media and then

1:06.0

a couple months in felt a little bit convicted that that decision was a bit of a hasty

1:15.0

decision to take a year off. And it was very, it was a very self-centered decision based on just,

1:24.0

And I think part of it too is I've always kind of struggled with, you know, having good screen boundaries and having good boundaries with social media.

1:39.4

And so I think I felt like if I just go off of it completely, I won't have to like overcome this. I just remove it.

1:48.6

But the thing about things like that is removing them doesn't solve the deeper issue that's at

1:56.0

play. And so a couple months into the break, while it was a really good and refreshing break,

2:00.8

and I am a huge advocate for taking social media breaks, I'm probably a little bit overdue for one.

2:08.6

I started to get really convicted, and I felt like the Lord was telling me, like, the people that you're talking to, they're hanging out on social media.

2:19.6

And so what are you doing? Not to say that, you know, people can't be successful or reach

2:25.3

people without social media because you can. But, you know, young moms, moms in the thick of it,

2:31.7

like, we're spending our time scrolling. And for better or for worse,

2:35.1

that's where we're at. So, you know, I really just felt like God was like asking me to, you know,

2:41.2

instead of just trying to like remove it and overcome it by yourself, why don't you partner with me?
