Beef, it's What's for Dinner.

Remember that slogan way back when, maybe the 80s or so?

Well, now it's more like beef, killing the environment.

Get rid of it.

That seems to be the common message now.

So why the change?

Well, the change is the focus on climate change, the focus on how cattle emit methane,

and so the more cattle there are, the more methane. But is it that simple? Well, no, it's much more

complicated than that. Cattle play an important role in the environment. They can really help the land

and help the environment. But how do we put that in perspective and fit that into this overall climate issue and climate

discussion?

Plus, there's sort of this negative connotation on meat and saturated fat and beef as being

unhealthy and therefore worth getting rid of.

But that message has its own problems and is inaccurate when it comes to, you know, well-formulated diets in which beef and animal products can serve a role for nutrient density, for providing high-quality protein and nutrition.

So I think we need to sort of change the discussion.

So we can hear more about the role that meat can play. And the other, an expert in land management,

someone who's out there every day managing the land, seeing the changes that can happen

with a well-managed pasture, and how that can actually help with the environment and what we can

see to move forward in the future with this. So this discussion from a little different perspective

of the environmental equation that is not just cattle emit methane, therefore get rid of them,
