Welcome into the House of L podcast. I am Lauren Holmes. This is episode 108. I really like this episode so I'm gonna try to get to it because I know I'm asking you to do some heavy lifting

this is a pretty long episode but you'll understand why after I explain what it is that this episode is.

Obviously while watching the last dance,

when they went back and they showed the Bulls

after winning their first championship going to the White House to meet George H. W. Bush at the time, play basketball at the White House, all that stuff. I thought it was an interesting omission of Craig Hodges. Like I think they show B.J. shooting a three when the story of the Bulls going to the White House then was Craig Hodges

being there in his dashiki and delivering a letter to the president of the

United States.

And so I started thinking,

somebody's gonna talk to Craig Hotches

over the next couple of days.

If anyone has some insight on it, they're going to spend some time talking to that man as they should.

I had actually already done interview with him about 16 months ago. I did an interview with him about 16 months ago.

I did an interview with him about this letter that he wrote and Tim Hallam who

works for the bull still was key in getting the letter to George H W Bush at the time.

And the letter raised concerns about all sorts of issues in America.

I think a lot of the issues that we're still

fighting about today and it cited all of this stuff and let me just read you a

passage from Craig Hodges book,, Long Shot, which I really can't recommend enough to you.

He says, I have my letter on the bus on the way to the White House I told Tim Hallam the Public

Relations Director for the Bulls that I'd written something to give to the President.

He looked at me like I was out of my damn mind.

Then he said it would be best if he handed the letter to Bush's press secretary.
