Summary

It's quiet. Too quiet. It has been years since the last blood libel and the Jewish community in Prague is starting to relax. Then, the Maharal receives a sign from God a few days before Passover, letting him know that the danger is far from over. On the creature of the week, if you can't take the heat, get out of the desert. Or stay in the desert and be like the Funeral Mountain Terrashot. Sponsors: Audible! This is a podcast where I tell stories from mythology and folklore. Some are incredibly popular

Lo, also known as the Maharell, who lived in 16th century Prague. His life was plagued by the

threat of a blood libel, rising from the anti-Semitic myth that Jews baked the blood of Christians

into their Mots as it passed over. In response to the increased danger led by a priest named Thaddeus,

the Maharell was given a command by God to create a Golem, a mindless claimant, and a super strong

defender of the Jewish population of Prague. It was just before Passover, and the Maharell

gathered everyone together. It had been a difficult few years, but there hadn't been a blood

libel in nearly a decade. They were in the synagogue, and the Maharell was breeding from the sitter.

He knew it by heart, of course, but he still liked to read it. He asked him to lay a candle so

he could see the words, and the wick took the flame, and then sputtered out. All the people assembled

there thought it strange, and so he tried again, and again, the wick lit briefly, then went out.

The Maharell group pale and asked everyone to follow him into the hallway,

where there were plenty of burning candles. As he stood before the candles, he resumed his

new words. In the dim light of the candle, he thought he saw in the five, and so he read it aloud,
