Well, the big news as we speak is that Israel and Hamas appear to be on the verge of agreeing a deal to bring about at least a temporary

ceasefire in the war in Gaza. This comes at a crucial moment in the conflict when the world was

beginning to wonder how long the IDF could continue the campaign in its current form, given the

appalling price in civilian casualties, with well over 13,000 Palestinians dead,

most of them women and children.

It's not a done deal, but all the signs are it could be soon.

The news was broken by Ishmael Hania, the head of Hamas, speaking in Qatar,

who said the two sides were close to reaching a truce agreement.

There's been no reaction from Israel

thus far, but President Biden also expressed optimism at a Thanksgiving event. The statement from

the Hamas leader, who lives in Qatar, came after he'd met the president of the International

Committee of the Red Cross in the capital Doha. The ICRC helped deliver the four hostages who were released last month.

A Hamas official told the Al Jazeera News Network that the agreement now being discussed

would include the release of Israeli women and children as well as Palestinian women and children

in Israeli detention. More aid would also be allowed into Gaza. It's assumed there would also

be a pause in the fighting to allow hostages out and aid in. So what do you think, Patrick?
