Violence is quite easy to get these sensitides to in an odd way, but hearing someone's suffering

in a very intimate way was devastating because you would hear their stories and you would see

and you just thought you're not going to survive here.

I've got a great story for you today from fellow journalist and documentary maker Chris Atkins

who spent his career exposing wrongdoers before himself being brought down for

tax evasion or avoidance or whichever one it is, he'll explain it better.

But basically, Chris took part in some sort of illegal scheme to raise

money for a documentary he was making I have a lot of sympathy for Chris in this I

know that feeling all too well of wanting to make a documentary and going to extreme lengths for it.

For the creative work you end up doing far more than you ever would for yourself, you know,

and it's important to remember that Chris didn't take the money for himself.

It was for his project.

Still, he accepts that he broke the law and he had to go to prison.

And he did.

He spent two and a half years in Wandsworth Prison and wrote a book called a bit of a stretch.

There's the pun there. It's unbelievable in a sense that he's there. It's a bit of a stretch.

And the stretch in the sense of the sentence. You didn't need me explaining that to you. But the book is as

hysterical as it is eye opening. It's really funny. He gives us a real insider look at what it's like for someone

you might not consider to be a typical career criminal or whatever it might be.

He's, you know, describes himself as a liberal lefty in prison.

So you'll hear firsthand from him just how frustrating the prison system is it's often

compared to you know Kafka and Kafka S it's just it's just maddening and I'd recommend
