0:18.1	history and today we are going to be talking about teenagers using an online messaging app and it all went completely and horribly wrong.
0:27.8	And at the center of this case is a very popular messaging app called Kick, which has over 300 million users.
0:36.2	Like I couldn't believe how big this app was.
0:38.7	At one point, approximately 40% of the teenagers in the US were using this app. 40% that is crazy.
0:46.1	However the app has one big problem. It is absolutely full of child sexual predators.

0:56.0	Within minutes, she started receiving random messages from strangers.
0:59.0	I'm 29 and I want to be your boyfriend.
1:02.0	How obedient are you?
1:03.0	Because Kik allows users to remain completely anonymous.
1:08.0	It is completely unmoderated.
1:11.0	The app has a dating element that is very sexually charged and all of
1:16.3	this has been marketed at teenagers which makes what some people have called a
1:21.0	predator's paradise.
1:24.0	And then one day back in 2015,
1:26.0	an 18-year-old college freshman called David Eisenhower
1:30.0	started using this app.
1:31.0	And then whilst he was using this app, he started talking to others, started up a little relationship
1:36.8	with another user called Nicole Lovell. The problem was that Nicole was only 13 years old.
1:45.0	She was a 13 year old middle school student and he was an 18 year old college freshman.
