and my goal is to give beginning gardeners the tools they need to grow a rewarding, productive garden. What is the one thing you wish you would have known before you started your first garden?

That was a question I posed to the members of my free Facebook group,

The Beginners Garden Shortcut,

but I never intended for the answers to that question to turn out to be a podcast episode.

When I first started this podcast almost three years ago,

shout out to those of you guys who

have been with me from episode one and for those of you who have been binge listening

after you discovered it, I think that is amazing. My whole purpose was to help beginners,

those who had never had any kind of gardening experience before to grow their own gardens,

despite not having the basic knowledge that they felt like they needed. Because I know when I

first started my garden, I felt like everything that I tended to look at seemed to assume a certain

level of understanding. And it was understanding I just didn't have.

So I've always wanted to keep this podcast at the most basic level so those who have

never started a garden before could understand how to get started and could gain the confidence

in themselves and knowing that they can do this. But in order for me to continue offering the kind of resources

that beginning gardeners are going to be able to find the most useful, I need to listen and to

still understand, not only just going back to my own experience, but also to understand what

beginners are facing in their first, second,

third years.

And that's why I asked the question on Facebook, what is the one thing that you wish you would

have known before you started your first garden?
