First up is Psalm 46, a Psalm that he describes as the ultimate cataclysmic Psalm.

Well, in my own study, I came across again one of my favorite Psalms. I love the Psalms. I think the one of the

functions of the Psalms is to keep us honest about the difficult realities of life in the

fallen world, about our struggles of faith, about the range of emotions that we'll experience,

about how sometimes God confuses us.

Sometimes we come to him with deep abiding questions, sometimes with fear, sometimes we celebrate his awesome power and glory and presence.

But the whole range is there in the Psalms.

And I think during this moment of difficulty, when a crisis has spread across the globe, the Psalms are a wonderful place to run.

And I want to take you to what I call the ultimate cataclysmic Psalm, Psalm 46.

Listen to these words.

God is our refuge in strength, a very present help in trouble.

Therefore we will not fear, though the earth gives way,

though the mountains be moved into the heart of the sea,

though its waters roar and foam, though the mountains tremble at its swelling.

There is a river whose streams make glad the city of God, the holy inhabitants of the most high.

God is in the midst of her. She shall not be moved. God will help her when morning dawns.
