Brandon and I sat down at his church office in San Clemente, California, about an hour south of Los Angeles.

Brandon was born in 1980, and when he was just a toddler, he developed Gillian Barr syndrome,

a severe autoimmune condition that began progressively paralyzing him.

Every day his parents would wake up to find that another part of Brandon had become paralyzed.
