Summary

Four big films are coming out this weekend, namely Noah, The Double, Divergent and Rio 2, which may or may not have something to do with half term arriving. (Hint: it definitely does). In honour of two of said films, there are two interviewees this week, starting with the most beautiful Spix's Macaw parrot in cinema, Anne Hathaway, and ending with the fascinating filmmaker Darren Aronosfky. Expect stories about punching people in the face.

On the Empire Podcast this week, Darren Arunovsky gets biblical on our asses as he talks

0:19.2

about Noah, and Hathaway stops singing like a nightingale and starts singing like a

0:23.2

parrot for Rio II, and we discuss the rest of the week's releases including divergent

0:27.6

and the double on the only movie podcast that is directly inspired by a story by Dostoyevsky,

0:32.8

and by that, of course, we don't mean the idiots of shut up.

Hello, Pod, I'm Hell Nohara, and welcome to the Empire Podcast. Joining me this week are the

0:39.6

three Empire writers who were caught in the London smog this morning, and it was so thick

0:43.4

they didn't notice the rope traps I rigged outside the office door. First up is Ali Plum,

who, if he were in divergent, would choose abnegation because every week he selflessly edits

0:53.4

this podcast for your listening pleasure, and also looks good in grey. Hello, Ali.

0:57.5

Hello, that's kind of you to say. I don't really have any comment.

1:00.6

Okay. Next, we've got Phil DeSemlin, whose faction would be erudite since he's terribly well-read

1:07.1

and can hopefully tell me who this Dostoyevsky bloke is. What?

1:11.1

Yeah. Yeah. And finally, here's Nick DeSemlin, who would clearly join Ahmadis since he calls

1:16.5

people neighbor even if they live on the other side of London. I call one person neighbor,

1:20.5

Chris, you know, we don't live. We didn't ever live next door to each other, but I must say,

1:24.5

in Captain America, Winter Soldier, Captain America's neighbor calls him neighbor at one point. So,

1:28.7

hey, it's obviously becoming a thing. You have set a trend, which is now being followed by

1:33.8

Captain America's neighbor. All this week, the questions have been flooding in and sloshing

1:37.9

around this pod arc, and we're going to start with at V511, says, dirty Harry, dirty doesn't,

1:46.0

dirty dancing, kiss, marry or kill. That's a weird question. It's a very weird question. I had to

1:51.8

choose it. I'm sorry. It proved to the weirdness levels of that question. I think I'd have to kill
