Arkansas baseball assistant Nate Thompson is known as one of the best hitting coaches in college

baseball.

Thompson's success developing some of the best talent in the country

came from unlikely beginnings,

as Thompson never played one baseball game in his high school career.

I always feel like I was trying to play catch-up as a player because you look back at it and you go,

he's got a couple thousand career at bats on me and it's kind of hard to overcome.

Throughout his college career he was playing catch-up and he always knew he wanted to

coach and as soon as he was done playing immediately began his coaching career.

After grinding his way to the coaching ranks Thompson got his big break, coaching the

offense and serving as recruiting coordinator at Missouri State

where he got national attention and full exposure to the

razorback baseball program.
