We are starting the show right now, but if I were to keep you waiting, I would make sure to have

some decent hold music for you. And today I just want to talk about the story behind what I think

is the best piece of hold music anyone who's ever come up with. So welcome Mondays and Wednesdays.

We talk apologetics and theology.

But today, on Friday, we talk about whatever I want to talk about. And today, yes, we will talk about

old music. I mean, we all know what hold music is, right? It's what keeps you on the line or

keeps you entertained or keeps you from hanging up when you have to wait for someone to come back to the phone

and talk to you, right? You know, you call someone, it's the worst, right? You call a credit

card company and you say, okay, I need help with this. What's your name, sir? Okay, what's your,

what's your account number? Okay, what's your birth date? What's your social security number?

Okay, okay, okay, I got that. Yeah, I'm going to have to send you over to this other department, and then they put you

on hold.

And then when you get to that department, you got to give the same information all over again.

But they put the hold music on.

Another part of the hold music is for you to know you haven't been disconnected.

Although I think older phones, if you were disconnected,

right, it would go brammer, mar, mar, mar, mar, mar, mar, what am I now doing, like, police academy?

The sound effects, things like that. You remember the old phones, you got disconnected. You'd

hear that annoying beeping sound. On cell phones, I guess if it just goes quiet, it doesn't tell you

unless you actually

look at the screen to see you've been disconnected. But here's how music on hold was developed.
