on top of the smooth green silk cloth that covered her table. She truly did believe that her

cards were doorways that led to tomorrow's meanings. Yet, for far too long, she'd been giving bad readings with them.

For whatever reason, they were as silent as the cold grave.

It didn't help either that no one really wanted their fortunes told anymore.

The age of information had arrived.

Everyone was connected to everything.

Yet to her, it felt like the modern world for all its science and discovery, for all its speed and progress, had lost the magic and mystery of life.
