Welcome to The Watching Dead, the officially unofficial podcast for The Walking Dead on AMC, I'm Jim.

0:33.0

I'm Aron, and today we're talking about season 10, episode 12 titled Walk With Us.

0:38.0

Aron, what do you think of this episode of The Walking Dead?

0:43.0

You know what? I think this is an excellent episode of The Walking Dead. It really hit on some emotional cylinders for me.

0:49.0

I'm just so impressed that they completely rehabilitated Daryl's character. Rick Leaving the Show is the best thing ever happened in Norman Reedus.

0:59.0

Yeah, he gets the spotlight all to himself now.

1:03.0

Well, I mean, it's not even the spotlight. It's just like Andrew Lincoln, and I don't think it's any fault of his own, but the narrative, Daryl was never supposed to be in The Walking Dead.

1:13.0

So all of the narrative, he's always going to be a second banana because there isn't anything in the source material for him that you can kind of mind.

1:20.0

And I feel like, so him and Rick always kind of like a split soul in this show, and getting rid of Rick has let him show a lot of his natural qualities.

1:32.0

And some of that stuff with Kim and Judith, the stuff with the Judith and Earl, the blacksmith.

1:40.0

It really hit with me, man. I wish Walking Dead was always this good.

1:47.0

And I have literally no fucking clue what's going to happen next. This episode blows things open so wide.

1:55.0

And I'm not even sure I'm not annoyed with it. I thought the end was cool, and then who showed up to kind of like,

2:03.0

oh, it's all been part of our plan. And I'm like, I, yeah, I'm thinking back, okay, does that all track?

2:10.0

I can't pinpoint the spot where they came up with that plan, but okay.

2:15.0

But it might be, it might be cool. I don't know. I'm not going to, I'm not going to like two years ago, I would have heaped so much scorn on the end.

2:24.0

I'd have been like, man, they had a great episode, and then they fuck it up at this weird curveball at the end.

2:29.0

Two clever by half, but you know, they just showed might be twice as clever now.

2:34.0

So it's easily twice as clever.

2:37.0

Yeah.

2:38.0

But otherwise, like, yeah, like there was an genuine loss, like the destruction of Hilltop felt like a momentous thing.
