0:35.5	Echo as we speak. It is a Los Angeles novel. It's a Hollywood novel.
0:41.3	It's about an aging A-list movie star with a drinking problem. And he is disaffected. He's disenchanted
0:49.0	with his life of wealth and privilege. He feels like it's been unearned, he's disillusioned,
0:54.7	he decides to create a lottery and give away his box office earnings for a particular film.
1:01.9	And it becomes a kind of marketing thing unintentionally to give away all of this money to a
1:08.2	lucky moviegoer. So it's about this guy, this A-Less movie star.
1:12.9	It's also about his non-famous best friend slash sometime lover. And it is about a young,
1:18.6	aspiring filmmaker. So it's a three-hander, alternating perspectives and people whose lives
1:25.6	are linked in ways that might surprise you.
1:30.2	I think at its core, this novel television is about luck
1:34.4	and the role that luck plays in human lives and in human creative lives in particular.
1:41.2	Good luck and bad.
1:43.0	And it also feels very much like uh, like a novel that is about
1:46.8	contemporary Hollywood in this sort of, uh, period of tumult. Is it the end? Is Hollywood dying?
