Hey, welcome to another T-Rex talk. This is Isaac Botkin, which you could probably tell,

because this is one of our YouTube video ones, which you're watching on YouTube video. But

we also have podcasts. And like I predicted in the last YouTube live stream, we hit our 100th podcast on Monday, and we forgot to do anything special about it.

So this is technically episode 101, and we're going to be talking about the future of radio.

So I have a whole bunch of very non-future radios.

These are incredibly current and present radios, except for the primitive and past radios. I guess technically all my

radios are past radios that I have in the present. We're going to be talking about the next

trends in radios, radio communication that's just so you can be prepared and have a little bit

better idea of what sort of devices you might want to be learning about and looking into so that you are prepared for the future. As usual we have a lot of people

in the chat talking about different stuff and right before we started this live

stream it was pouring rain and it now sounds a little bit quieter. So how is audio? Can

you guys hear me all right? Yep. Audio is good.

So we have on the table a whole bunch of different radios.

We have the super basic little FRS, GMRS type radios.

We have the slightly more complicated, this is a professional DMR radio. This is the Hightera radio, so not only

does it do DMR, it does DMR with full-on 256-bit AES encryption. And if I hold it over here,

you can see it in a glorious second camera shot.

Oh, the battery died on our beautiful second camera shot.

Well then I'll just hold it closer to the camera out of the light so it's

very difficult to see. So we have a bunch of radios here but we also have some digital

radios. The future of radio communication is digital radios, software-defined radios, and digital mesh communication.

So I'm going to talk a little bit about software-defined radio.
