Okay, Dreamers, this is the second part of the two-part series on Dan and Betty Broderick.

In part one we discussed the early years of Dan and Betty, their marriage, its deterioration, the introduction of the mistress into the mix, and the ugly divorce.

Now we're going to get into the events that followed, as Betty continued to spiral into a state of

uncontrolled fury obsessing over vengeance against her ex-husband and his new bride and

as a reminder this episode is out of the ordinary for the show where we've

decided to leave in some of the more explicit content. So don't listen to

this one if young children are around.

Early on the morning of November 5th, 1989, Betty Broderick sat in her kitchen looking at two letters in a long procession of letters that she had been receiving from her ex-husband's various attorneys.

I read one article that said the letters were taunting and belittling to Betty,

all of them sent at Dan's behest, accusing Betty of being irresponsible, incapable, untrustworthy,

wicked, and basically crazy.

But I read another article that said the series of letters were all in regards to the divorce.

The final two were threats of fines and jail time unless her vulgar voice messages did not cease.

Betty would later say that those messages were born out of a frustration in not being able

to talk to her children who were living with Dan full-time. But based on the

things Betty has been known to say to and about her kids, I can't help but feel that

she is using them as pawns in her irrational chess match with Dan.

I do sympathize with the hurt Betty obviously felt when Dan walked out on their 16-year marriage for a younger woman.

There's no denying that is something very difficult to cope with.

But her fight was with Dan, and I think she should have and could have kept her children completely
