Hey everyone, thanks for downloading episode 101 of our Civil War podcast. I'm Rich.

0:29.6

And I'm Tracy. Hello y'all. Welcome to the podcast. Before we get started talking about the

0:35.4

Battle of P Ridge, we just wanted to remind y'all that the podcast website has moved to

0:40.6

www.civilwarpodcast.org. And that once you're there, you can also sign up to become a member

0:48.5

and have access to a couple of extra episodes each month. In fact, the first member's episode

0:54.4

is already up there on the website. And thanks to those of you who have already signed up to be

1:00.0

members. And someone actually suggested we come up with a clever name for those of you who

1:05.8

support the podcast by becoming members. Like for example, Jimmy Buffett fans are known as

1:11.9

Parrotheads. Or Swifties are Taylor Swift fans. And we have it from a reliable source that the

1:20.0

supporters of the London-based Arsenal football club are known as Guners. And one more. And this

1:27.3

is our favorite Barry Manelow fans are known as Fanelos. So in that great tradition, for those of

1:35.1

you who become members of the podcast, we came up with the Strafe Brigade. And the story behind

1:42.0

that is that during the Civil War, when raw recruits showed up fresh from the farm, so to speak,

1:47.8

some wouldn't know their left from their right. But they did know the difference between hey and

1:52.9

straw. So in order to teach them how to march, their sergeant would tie a piece of hey to their

1:57.9

left foot and a piece of straw to their right. And so the cadence for starting out marching would be

2:03.7

hey foot, straw foot, hay foot, straw foot. And so one name for a green recruit back then was

2:10.7

straw foot. And so Rich and I thought the straw foot brigade would be a neat nickname for all of

2:16.6

y'all who support the podcast by becoming members. So you can go to the new website and sign up to

2:22.6

become a member of the straw foot brigade for just $5 a month. And as Tracy said, the first members

2:28.9

episode is already up. And the next on the Battle of Pikachu Pass will be up this next week.

2:36.2

Right now our plan is to release new members episodes around the 10th and 20th of each month. So
