101 with the phenomenal Gail Ann Dorsey. And if you can hear any birds cheaper in the

background, it's because I'm stood in my garden. I'm not in an Avery or anything weird like that.

Anyway, today's episode is absolutely killer. Gail has played with the likes

of obviously David Bowie, but she's also played with Gwen Stefani, Boy George, Jonathan Brooke,

tears for fears in excess, and she's now on tour with Lenny Kravitz as well. And we're going

to be talking about her career, how she got into the base, how she became one of the busiest session players in the world, and how she ended up, you know, playing with David Bowie and the rehearsal procedures that they used to go through, and how she rehearses with Lundy Kravitz and everything in between.

It's steeped in history. I've seen you play a ton of times as I've been internet stalking you, because that's what I do. But obviously you played with a slew of artists. Is that even a word, slew? Yes, I believe so. I'm just checking, right? So a slew of artists, but how did you actually get into this racket in the first place? Well, I'm one of those people that played something else and picked up the base so that I could work.

I've heard that story many times. Now, when I was a teenager in the 70s and I was playing, I was a guitar player.

I love guitar. Guitar is my favorite instrument. Do you still play? Oh yeah, absolutely, very much so.

And I was trying to get work. I was 14 and I was trying to get work in the summer

that wasn't McDonald's or flipping burgers or whatever.

And I went to the local music store.
