Kirk, how are you? Good. I love these type of interviews. Today we're going with Rick Allen. How are you doing, Rick? Doing great. Eric, how are you?

Good. I love these type of interviews. Today we're going to be talking about distressed assets and private notes.

Rick, can you tell us a little bit about your background?

I've been investing in distressed assets since 2005 when there really weren't distressed assets.

I kind of got cut my teeth in the real

estate space, working for a nationwide wholesale company and originating hard money.

And in 2008, when the market sort of started to tank and the hard money was drying up,

we went and started our own real estate investment company, myself, and a couple partners

and did pretty well. We

flipped about 400 homes between 2008 and the end of 2011. At that point, I had my second child

and I was looking forward to raising kids and playing a lot of golf and kind of having a lifestyle

business. So we sold off the company. It lasted about three months.

I accidentally bought my first mortgage note, which was 90 grand in debt, framed duplex, and I paid

$8,400 for it. 14 days later, I had my money back in from a deed and Lou and sold a property
