Summary

Lewis checks in this week from the west coast for the 101st episode of The Rantcast. Our host discusses Hurricane Ian that ravaged through Florida last week. As Lewis watches the news, he realizes that the only thing to distract us from the usual news stories that are covered constantly in the news (court cases, politics, etc.) is some kind of major catastrophe and/or natural disaster. One story Lewis watched on the news was about how homes in Florida are going to be rebuilt after the latest hurricane. Well maybe, at this point in time, it might be best for everyone in Florida to live underground covered by concrete. 7 feet of concrete, at least. How come everyone is wearing plaid on TV? Our host was never a fan of plaid. He tries to dress up, which is why he deserves to be on a top 10 “hey, he tried” list for best dressed. Our host also explains just how much you can learn from fantasy football. For example, the hatred you can have for an individual you don’t even know! Apologies to the fans in Tucson, Arizona for the iPad not having enough juice to read all the rants that you submitted live and in person. Don’t worry! Our host read the rest of them here, on the Rantcast.  The live rants come from this past weekend’s shows at the National Hispanic Cultural Center in Albuquerque, NM and the Fox Theater in Tucson, AZ.  Lewis’ Grammy-nominated special, "Thanks For Risking Your Life" is available now! https://tlbrecords.lnk.to/LewisWE SUBMIT RANTS TO LEWIS https://www.lewisblack.com/live SUBSCRIBE TO THE RANTCAST https://www.lewisblacksrantcast.com FOLLOW LEWIS www.lewisblack.com www.youtube.com/officiallewisblack www.instagram.com/thelewisblack www.facebook.com/thelewisblack www.twitter.com/thelewisblack www.tiktok.com/@thelewisblack New episodes arrive every Wednesday. But what do I know? I'm just a rubber chicken. Yes,

0:24.5

you are. And a very wise one to get the hell out of there. A lot of those people just stayed,

0:28.7

and I don't fucking, I know you don't. Oh, yeah, okay, we can discuss this another time.

0:34.2

It's a much longer discussion, and we will talk then, but I've got to get on with

Rantcast 101 entitled Between the Rock and a Hard Place, from an asteroid to Ian. Huh? That's a

0:48.3

snappy little title for a snappy fucking week, wasn't it? Oh boy. First we start with the asteroid, the teeny tiny asteroid, we whack that out and then all of a sudden

0:58.0

we learn that the only thing that will distract us at all from any kind of discussion of the

1:05.0

amount of bullshit we go through on a daily level, be it whatever it's the court cases are,

1:10.0

whatever the Republicans and Democrats are screaming about, whatever it whatever it's the court cases are, whatever the Republicans and Democrats are

1:11.8

screaming about, whatever it is that the constant buzz of television, which is the repetition

1:17.2

of the same news thing, the same news cycle over and over and over again, what we apparently

1:22.8

need in order to break out of that is a major catastrophe. God damn, those TV, they couldn't get the

1:30.9

cameras down there fast enough. They couldn't put idiots out into the streets yelling about it

1:36.3

enough. And now, boy, it's like a massive amounts of today. There's more actually in-depth reporting when it comes to a catastrophe

1:46.1

than when it comes to the shit we have to deal with on a daily basis, okay?

1:50.5

And then they're yelling about, you know, I just, I fucking don't get it.

1:54.9

I just, it's horrifying what's happening down in Florida.
