A severe storm system has wreaked havoc on the American South and Midwest. Nearly 30 tornadoes were

confirmed in the storm's first wave that

leveled homes and businesses and killed at least seven people. Now the biggest concern is flooding,

since the storm system has stalled, already dropping several inches of rain over a wide swath of the

country from Texas to the northeast, with much more rain on the way. The National Weather Service

says flash floods could be life-threatening, catastrophic rain on the way. The National Weather Service says flash floods could

and Tennessee, where up to 15 inches of rain could end up falling. Plus, more tornadoes are possible.

Forecasts show the extreme weather threat will continue in the central U.S. and last through Sunday morning.

It was the worst day for the stock market since the height of the pandemic, as President Trump's new

tariff set off shockwaves around the world. The S&P 500 fell 4.8 percent, its worst day since 2020.

All in all, American companies had trillions of dollars in

value wiped out as investors dumped shares in companies they expect to be most impacted by tariffs.
