Hello!

Out there.

I've always had this idea

that if a child went missing in my small town,

especially one of my own kids,

then I go to every door of every home

that holds a man.

I don't quite trust, and there are five of them.

Five men in my town of 800 or so people

that I don't like to cut off.

It's a strange little secret I hold.

There's no way I tell anybody about it.

The fact that I think I know where to go quickly

in succession,

if anyone were to go missing on the way home from school

or the pool or the ice rink or the store,

I won't share it with anyone.

Because I don't want to get back to these men.

I don't want them to know that I see them.

I don't want to make them real.
