Heavyweight Championship challenges, nobody remembers.

10. Barbarian Halloween Havoc 1992

Many moons before he was playing cards, subping cold ones in the back,

and dealing out ass whoopings alongside Bradshaw on WWE television,

Ron Simmons reigned as the WCW World Champion in the early 90s. He was also the first African-American

star to hold, said title. And while his shocking title win against Vader and defences against the

likes of cactus Jack and Stevie Williams, how what most fans point to when recalling his run

at the top? Another less remembered powerhouse found himself going up against the eventual

feruk on a number of occasions around this time. Not long after parting ways with WWE in 1992,

the Barbarian was given a fairly strong push, forming an alliance with the aforementioned

Jack Tony Atlas, Jake Roberts and Butcher Reed. Before long he was going one on one with the

squad's bitter rival, Simmons at Halloween Havoc 92. And despite failing to prize the belt

away from the champ, he continued to war with him on the house circuit for a while after.
