My name is Reb Mezel, your host, as always,

and today before I jump right into the topic that has been on my mind for quite a long time and what I have wanted to do an entire episode on since I read this case. I want everyone to

note that I will be using the terms Indian and Native American interchangeably in this episode not because that is a

commentary on which one I believe is more appropriate. A majority if not, of the case law and federal law on the issue of tribal

sovereignty and Native American relations between the federal government and tribal lands and the tribes use the term Indian.

That's the named term for many of these federal enforcement departments and authorities for example

there is a Bureau a Federal Bureau called the Bureau of Indian Affairs the BIA.

That is still the name today. So please know that I am doing my best to kind of plug in

the term Native American where I can or the term Native or indigenous where I can because I do believe
