And every week I just pull out a few points from our reading.

And I'm just glad that more and more people are reading the Bible for themselves.

Rather than just taking people's word for it,

rather than just accepting other people's teaching, it's so important that we read it for ourselves. Because there's a popular way of thinking out in the world. And that's why even in Acts, as we've

been reading, remember Acts way back in Acts chapter 2 when Peter preached his first sermon?

It says, you know, with many words that says that he kept warning the people to save themselves

from this crooked generation. It says in verse 40. Save yourselves from this

crooked generation. The whole point, even back then, even 2,000 years ago, Peter is saying,

look, there's a majority way of thinking, and it's twisted. It's crooked. It's based upon what we want rather than what God wants.

And the whole idea is we need to save ourselves from that type of thinking, the popular thinking.

And as you're reading the scriptures, it's not just about all these external influences that can cause you to have the truth distorted,

but you also have to pray about yourself because the truth is, is we all want certain things to be true.

And so even as you're reading through the Bible, We all want certain things to be true.

And so even as you're reading through the Bible,

you have to be able to differentiate between what you want it to say

and what it actually says.

To be fair to the scriptures.

Because the truth is, is a lot of what God writes is offensive to us.

Sometimes it grates against us.

So, you know, when Paul was talking to the Ephesian elders in Acts chapter 20, he says in verse 26,

Therefore, I testify to you this day that I am innocent of the blood of all, for I did not shrink from declaring to you the whole counsel of God.
