Welcome to the Emotionally Healthy Leader podcast. My name is Pete Scuzaro, and it's great to be with you today.

0:07.4

A couple weeks ago at our Emotionally Healthy Discipleship Summit, where we gathered leaders from 19 different countries, to talk about transforming the culture of churches and ministry around a discipleship that deeply changes people.

0:20.3

I gave a 20-minute talk on

0:22.3

Sabbath and 10 reasons Sabbath is core to discipleship and 10 reasons Sabbath is core to leadership.

0:28.9

And it got such a wide response that I was encouraged strongly to put it into a podcast. So here it is.

0:34.7

So a little bit of just context here is there's four core essentials to following Jesus or a discipleship that's going to deeply change a person's life so that they can disciple others.

0:47.3

One is slowing down to be with Jesus. Secondly, is going back to go forward. Thirdly is learning new skills to love like Jesus, and then finally

0:56.1

practicing Sabbath rhythms. So it's that last one we're going to talk about here today. And so again,

1:02.1

1:09.7

that we're actually able to give it out to other people.

1:13.1

And so we've put it into a course with two parts to it.

1:17.2

It's not a plug-and-play course by any means.

1:19.5

It needs training.

1:21.2

But it's got to be lived by those who lead it.

1:25.7

And actually, our next training, if you're interested, if you've not come to a

1:29.1

training on how to lead the emotionally health of the discipleship course, our next one is on May 31st,

1:33.5

from one to four at Eastern Standard Time. And in a three-hour session, I model what it looks like

1:41.0

to bring this to a ministry or a church, how to launch it as a pilot,

1:46.4

and how to take your first steps.

1:48.3

And so, again, it needs training to actually do it because it's got to begin to be lived

1:52.6

and tasted because it's such a radical way to approach discipleship and a church.

1:58.5

And so I encourage you go to our our website Emotionally Healthy.org.
