Summary

A funny British English conversation about food, cooking & eating habits, with my friend Martin. Why is British food a bit of a joke? Do French people have the right to criticise British cuisine? What is marmite, and why don't Brits just throw it away? What did Luke eat for lunch every single day during secondary school? And, who would be Luke's dream dinner party guests? All that and more, in a conversation full of tangents, recipes, rants and apologies, and a nice range of vocabulary expressions to spot. Enjoy! PDF Transcript available.

This episode is a conversation with my friend Martin all about food.

0:44.9

Martin has been on this podcast before in episode 896, in which we rambled about his

0:52.3

experiences of teaching English and living in different countries

0:55.7

and how difficult it is to order ice cream in the Czech Republic,

1:01.3

because the word for ice cream in Czech is, like, really hard for an English person to pronounce.

1:07.2

It's smrislina, smerslina, which sounds like you're saying an English word backwards.

1:14.9

Zmraslina, right? Sounds like a backwards word. Anyway, that we talked about that in episode

1:19.4

896. So Martin is an English teacher like me and an English man like me. So obviously we have everything in common with each other.

1:30.1

1:36.7

he prepares 10 questions on a specific topic and then he asks me the questions and I can

1:43.5

answer them and all the lepsters,

1:46.5

that's you, will be happy to listen to me doing some rambling on a certain topic.

1:52.2

And this is actually very helpful.

1:53.5

Thank you, Martin, for coming up with the idea.
