December 11th. We're learning more about a deal between Qatar and Israel that provided

Gaza with millions in funding.

In 2018, Israel approved Qatar to make payments to Gaza.

Some $15 million in cash was delivered monthly by the Qataris and suitcases,

and brought through Israeli territory according to a top

katari official and today the official said the Gulf State will continue making the

payments. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu-Yahu faced criticism for the move then and now,

but claims it was to help return calm to Israeli villages

and to prevent a humanitarian crisis in Gaza.

But Israeli and international media

claimed Netanyahu's motivation was to prevent the establishment of a Palestinian state by helping to make Hamas an effective counterweight to the Palestinian Authority.

Israeli officials reject the claims.

Major General Amos Gilaad, a former senior Israeli defense ministry official, said the deal was

backed by the Israeli intelligence community.
