Summary

In this episode we discuss a few major contexts to keep in mind while reading the Bible. Context determines meaning. The contexts I mentioned in the episode were: 1) Overarching/Entire Bible Context -- "What does the rest of the Bible say about this topic. Are there any other Scriptures I can think of?" 2) Literary Context -- "What is the genre of this portion of the Bible? Hey everybody and welcome back to I just want to talk about the Bible. For those of you

0:09.9

who this is your first time joining us, let me introduce myself. My name is Christian Keeter

0:14.5

and I am on staff at an international discipleship ministry called Mentoring Men for the Master,

0:20.2

which is based out of

0:21.4

North Carolina on the east coast of the U.S., which is where I live with my beautiful wife and two

1:12.3

It becomes real to us.

1:15.0

And so I just want to repeat that because that is our focus.

1:18.2

Even though we're getting into the mechanics of Bible study and getting into some pretty specific ways of studying the Bible,

1:22.0

I don't want this to become a cold, dry, rigid exercise

1:25.4

where we just become more intellectual.

1:28.7

I want to keep us focused on we're doing this because we want to study the word more so that we can meditate on it and do it

1:34.5

and apply it because we love Jesus because we want to know him more. We want to experience him more.

1:39.6

We want him to be more real to us in our practical experience. And so I just wanted to say that by way of

1:46.4

introduction. If you haven't heard those two episodes, go listen to those first. But if you have
