For those of you who know a little about me, it's also a nod to another love in my life,

0:27.2

and that is fashion.

1:44.7

10% of the global carbon emissions are produced by the fashion industry.

1:51.6

Think about that.

1:53.3

And in addition to that, there are hundreds of billions in textiles that are either created

1:59.9

for the fashion industry and never sold,

2:02.8

and that is called deadstock, or it is consumed, people give it away or throw it away,

2:11.1

and it ends up rotting in landfills here in the United States and also shipped to the global south.

2:19.2

Countries in Africa and in South Asia receive this where it can rot and burn in landfills,

2:28.1

setting off toxic chemicals.
