We're going to be taking a break for the summer, and so next week will be our final class before the break.

And therefore, I wanted to briefly pause for a few minutes and then resume our class here what have we done in the last how many months have we been doing this six months seven months I don't know what have we been doing overall we are trying to revitalize Islamic theology we We're trying to make Islamic theology relevant.

That is my project in this entire class.

Theology is the backbone of who we are.

And I have said in the beginning,

most of our classical textbooks were written in different cultural

and social and political climates.

And there is very little relevancy when people of our generation turn to those classic books.

I'm not diminishing their worth. I'm simply saying one finds it to be a little bit antiquated, outdated, or irrelevant.

Now you could if you wanted to you know employ some

hermeneical gymnastics and somehow make it relevant as many in the classical

strand want to do good for them another way to do this is to reinvent the

wheel start from scratch which is what I'm attempting to do in these series of

classes and that is to basically re-ask the questions that we should be asking

what does it mean to be a Muslim?

What does it mean theological?

Because you have socially and religiously,
