0:25.8	and reports of other Republican members of the house coming to his office and
0:29.6	saying it's not going to be you Jim it's simply not going to be you remember that this all
0:35.0	started when a small number eight members of the Republican Party which is in the
0:40.0	majority in the House of Representatives decided they didn't want Kevin McCarthy
0:44.2	a speaker anymore. They joined Democrats in a vote to remove him. Since then
0:49.7	there have been a number of different directions that this path has taken.
0:54.3	One was the direction of Steve Scalise, although Scalise then ultimately said I'm removing myself for consideration.
1:00.9	Then Jim Jordan came to the forefront, never a guy to shy away from the
1:04.7	possibility of more access to power and more media appearances, and a first vote and
1:10.3	a second vote and a third vote saw Republicans reject Jim Jordan each time by more
1:16.7	votes he actually got further from being made speaker of the house with each vote. On the Democratic side, Democrats are
1:25.2	extraordinarily united. They want Democrat Hakim Jeffries to be Speaker of the
1:29.3	House. I think he would be a great choice, very much the sort of Democrat that is striking the right tone
1:38.8	when it comes to how these outrageous radical Republicans who abandoned policy completely
1:43.8	should be dealt with. Of course Democrats are in the minority so unless
1:47.2	somehow Republicans get involved in helping Hakeem Jeffries he also won't be the
1:51.1	Speaker of the House. So where are we now in a new week?
1:54.3	Well, where we are as Axios reports is that there are now nine people, nine people
2:00.8	running for Speaker of the House for the Republicans. Those nine members are
2:05.4	Tom Emmer, Mike Johnson, Kevin Hearn, Byron Donald's, Pete Sessions, Jack Bergman, Austin Scott, Daniel Muser, and Gary Palmer.
