during the break a report you know there was an article yesterday in the New York

Times about Adam Silver and the upcoming NBA season and he was talking about

you know he's looking forward to the longstanding now and advocated relationship that he has with

legalized sports gambling, sports betting in this country.

Like, he's always been at the forefront of things and by the way we're really behind in this country because this has been going on in Europe for years and years and years and for those of you that have ever visited across the pond you know that you could just be walking down the street

ready to purchase some fish and chips and go oh there's a little stand there where you can bet

a ten thousand dollars on today's soccer match.

It's crazy.

So that's always kind of been the case,

but I didn't want to start the hour about the NBA and betting,

but I did want to bring this up on a redemption Thursday where the wagers happen.

Sports betting across the country is now the norm as we first

guessed 25 years ago that it would be. Nearly 40 US states now can bet on

sports in a variety of ways, different capacities.

In 2023, Tom, Sportsbook revenues were at $10.9 billion. That, if you want to know, is a 44.5% increase from 2022?
