Today is Thursday, October 16th, 2025. And we begin with drop, cover, and hold across the globe for International Shakeout Day.

More than 50 million people all over the world are expected to participate in earthquake drills at 10.16 a.m.

Local time this morning. The intent to raise awareness and preparedness should the big one ever hit.

Schools, universities, hospitals,

government agencies, and businesses are working to make their facilities quake-proof and are

training those inside to withstand the shaking. If your school is not participating, you can go to

shakeout.org to learn how to run your own drill with their family at home.

Measles is making another menacing comeback this time in the southeast and upper Midwest.

As of this recording, at least 16 cases have been identified in South Carolina,

the majority in Spartanburg County, where two elementary schools have nearly 140 unvaccinated kids staying home from school or quarantining to keep them from getting infected.

Minnesota is also experiencing an outbreak with at least 20 confirmed cases.

According to USA Today, the U.S. has seen record cases of measles this year, with more than

1,500 people infected, many connected to a large outbreak in West Texas earlier in the year.

South Carolina officials say they plan to offer free vaccines for those who want them,

as they believe lower vaccination rates are allowing the

disease to spread more freely.
