Today is Wednesday, October 13th, 2021, and we begin with science fiction intersecting

with science fact on a launch pad in West Texas.

Whether permitting, the man who rocketed the fame as Captain Kirk in the make-believe

space drama Star Trek will make his delayed launch to the cosmos this morning aboard a

blue origin rocket, liftoff for William Shatner and three others is set at 930 AM Eastern.

The capsule will reach an altitude of about 66 miles, then parachute back to Earth, not

far from where it took off. The entire trip will only last about 10 minutes, but the 90-year-old

actor freely admits he's terrified. If all goes right, Mr. Shatner will be the oldest

person to reach space. He'll also be the second actor. Last week, Russia sent up an actress

and film crew to start shooting a movie at the International Space Station.
