We engage in the day-to-day political story, of course.

But it wears me out.

And often is just, you know, it's just a story that day.

Sure.

I really like this big picture stuff on looking at the trend lines in America and where we're

going and everything.

So reading this, Dan Ball's column is really interesting.

And we get the midterms coming up here in a couple of weeks.

If you follow politics, you know, the history of the whole thing, Reagan lost huge, Clinton

lost huge, Obama lost huge in the midterms and then went on to win a second term.

So as far as that predicting anything, you know, that's not a good barometer.

And you also have the last midterm, obviously four years ago, had the lowest turnout in

this country since World War II.

And that was a bit of an outlier because we were kind of preoccupied.

I mean, so who knows who's going to turn out and what they're going to be thinking.

Well, let's talk big picture in midterms and whatever else comes up with Dan Ball's,

the chief correspondent covering national politics, the presidency and Congress for the Washington

post, longtime journalist, certainly a heavyweight among journalists and a fellow graduate of

the University of Illinois.
