Good morning and welcome to Kid News. I'm Tori. Today is Tuesday, October 8th, 2019 and we begin with

Super Typhoon Hagib spinning toward Japan. The storm began on Saturday as a tropical depression,

then morphed into a tropical storm, but it's what happened between Sunday and

Monday that's alarming weather watchers. Hagibous added 100 miles per hour to its wind speed,

which now clocks in at a staggering 160.

This level of rapid intensification

is the highest recorded by meteorologists since 1996.

Hagibis is still four days away from landfall, likely as a less powerful storm, though 10 inches of

rain are predicted in parts of Japan.

A super typhoon, by the way, is like a category 5 hurricane.

In fact, hurricanes and typhoons are the same weather phenomenon, but it's called a typhoon

in the Northwest Pacific and a hurricane in the Atlantic and Northeast Pacific.

NASA's first all-female space walk is back on.

As you may remember, back in March, two women were set to make history until NASA discovered a wardrobe malfunction.

Both needed a medium-sized space suit, but only one was available. Flash forward to October 21st

when Christina Koch and Jessica Meyer will finally make that ceiling-shattering stroll in space.

Their mission? To install install lithium ion batteries to improve

the station's power supply. It will be one of 10 spacewalk scheduled during

these final three months of the year to improve the aging International Space Station.
