The Whole Council of God. Father Stephen is a former Protestant pastor and Bible teacher in the

Reformed Church, but now an Orthodox priest serving at Archangel Gabriel Orthodox Church

in Lafayette, Louisiana. So we'll go ahead and get started and when we get started in just a moment, and it really

will be this time just a moment.

We'll be starting First Timothy.

Last time, all we did was the introduction to First Timothy.

So I'm not going to reintroduce the introduction

um by the time people are hearing this recording that'll be that recording will be available

um the one thing i didn't go over in that introduction is i didn't say much about uh

saint timothy himself to whom St. Paul is addressing this letter.

But most of what we know about St. Timothy, frankly, we know from these two letters.

So we'll be sort of talking about that as we go along through first and second Timothy.

So, but we have super brief, right?

This is, unlike the epistles we've been reading so far, this is a letter that St. Paul

wrote to St. Timothy, so it's to a particular person

rather than going to a church or to a group of churches. So it's a slightly different format.

He speaks slightly differently and about slightly different topics, right? Obviously,

St. Timothy is not only an individual person and not a church, but he's someone who's worked

closely with St. Paul and who has a leadership position in these early Christian communities and who

by way of this letter, he is sending to fulfill a specific role in church leadership.
