Now, in Greek, and I like how in the New King James, they kept this,

we're still in the same sentence.

St. Paul's Greek sentences are kind of insane.

Not Julius Caesar's conquest of Gaul Latin insane,

where there's a sentence that goes on for 17 pages at one point.

But he does some nice long sentences with lots of nested clauses. So verse four, knowing beloved brethren, your election by God.

Knowing, right, the English Jaron ends in I-N-G, is another one of those translation punts, right?

It's a participle.

The committee gotten an argument about how to interpret it. It's a participle. The committee got in an argument about how to interpret it.

And so we're just going to punt and put knowing.

So there are a bunch of options in terms of how to interpret a participle.

In this case, it's pretty clearly causal, right?

Meaning you're doing these things because you know, right? Because you know. Part of

symbols could do other things. They could be temporal, right? It could be like while you know. It could be like when you know.

There's a whole bunch of things.

But here, what fits is causal, right?

You're doing these things because you know beloved brethren, right?
