When I walk through this Brooklyn apartment on a floor so high that you can see the

Statue of Liberty out the window I'm like this is such a nice place the person leading me through it is Julie. She's in her early 40s. Her hair is in a cool

pixie cut. She's got thick glasses on, comfortable sweat clothes, no shoes.

One thing I really like about her is how good-natured she is,

especially when she's telling her kids what to do.

We're not done. That's Mia, her older daughter. She's eight. She chose the wallpaper.

Purple and blue butterflies. I think it's a bit garish and ugly but she loves it and then that's her name

inscribed and Mia Singh Singh is her middle name and that's my Chinese name that's what

my family calls me Singh and Isabel's is yup, so it's much more boring.

Isabel's her younger daughter. She's six.
