This is the Bible Book Club. I'm Heather and I'm Susan and we're in the book of First Samuel.

Well, in chapter 25, Samuel, the judge, prophet and priest died, leaving a gaping spiritual whole in the nation of Israel.

Then, David had his second test of temptation in the wilderness. It was a temptation to avenge himself for the insults of a foolish man

named Navel. Nabel refused to provide David and his men food and insinuated that they were defectors.

So David was going to kill him until God used a wise and beautiful woman named Abigail to stop him in his tracks.

Her words turned him back to God's plan and he was spared of making a bloody mistake.

Just days later though, Nable dies.
